Athletes joining our weekly programs begin with a comprehensive diagnostic using the NextGen Speed Academy Performance Standards — giving every parent and athlete a clear, quantitative baseline and a measured retest at the end of the 12-week program. No guesswork, no stopwatches — just exact data on where your athlete starts and how far they've come.

Every 0.1 second we cut from a sprint is roughly one meter of ground gained. In a real game, that one meter is the difference — scoring the goal instead of missing it, finishing the layup instead of getting blocked, chasing down the breakaway instead of watching it go. In basketball, football, and nearly every sport, one meter decides the play.

What We Test on Day 1

The assessment captures a complete picture of your athlete's speed and explosiveness from several angles — so improvement can be coached precisely and proven objectively, not assumed.

Timing Gates

Precise electronic sprint times. Every speed measurement is exact — no guesswork, no stopwatches.

Jump Mat

Accurately measures vertical jump height and hang time, capturing explosive lower-body power.

Long Jump

Measures horizontal explosive power — how far an athlete can project their body from a standing position.

Ground Contact Time

Measures how quickly the foot leaves the ground — a key indicator of reactive strength and sprint efficiency.

Video Movement Analysis

Beyond the numbers, every diagnostic includes a full video-based breakdown of your athlete's sprint mechanics. Parents receive a clear, visual look at how their child moves today — and exactly what we'll improve over the course of the program.

Why We Test Before We Train

Speed coaching without measurement is guesswork. A stopwatch in a coach's hand can be off by two or three tenths of a second — and at sprinting speed, a tenth of a second is roughly a meter on the field. If you can't measure to that precision, you can't honestly tell a parent whether their child is improving.

That's why the NextGen Speed Analysis comes first. We establish an exact, repeatable baseline on Day 1, re-test through the program, and show parents the difference in numbers they can trust.

It also changes how each athlete is coached inside the session. Our athletes train through one structured program — the progression is deliberate, and it is the same proven system for every athlete in the group. What the diagnostic changes is how that program is delivered to your child specifically:

  • Placement. The data determines which program and which training group an athlete belongs in — not their age, and not what a parent selects from a menu.
  • Coaching focus. The diagnostic shows whether an athlete's limiter is acceleration, top speed, reactive strength or mechanics, so their coach knows what to watch for and what to correct first.
  • Individual cues. The same instruction does not land the same way for every athlete. Knowing an athlete's numbers and movement profile tells us which cues actually work for them.
One system, coached to the individual — and measured the same way from a child's first session onward.
